ADU design-build, Woodland Hills
A second unit, planned around your lot
Detached, attached, a converted garage or a junior unit inside the house. We check which of the four your property allows, draw it, permit it and build it through final inspection.
Why a design-build team for an ADU
An ADU sits between two worlds: zoning rules that decide what can go on the lot, and a build that has to connect to the house you already live in. When one team draws and builds, the drawings answer to what it costs to build them.
Cedarline is set up for that. The person who reviews your lot also follows the plans through the city and stays with the project through construction, so nothing gets lost between an architect, a permit runner and a contractor.
More on how we work- All four ADU types compared on your lot before any drawing
- One contract covering design, permits and construction
- Licensed, with utility connections and final inspection included
Before you plan a unit
It depends on the lot. A detached unit needs open yard and a path for utilities, an attached one needs a wall of the house to build against, a garage conversion needs a sound structure, and a JADU needs a room inside the home you can give up. We look at all four before recommending one.
On many single-family lots, state law allows both. Whether yours does depends on the zone and the layout, so we confirm it in the lot review before drawing either one.
Yes. We prepare the drawings, submit them, answer the plan check corrections and pull the permit. During the build we schedule each inspection through final.
Not always. Some units share the main house's water and power, others get separate meters. It is a cost and a rental decision, and we lay out both options for your lot before you choose.
Units, additions and the rest of the house
Most of what we do starts with a question about space: where a new unit or room can go, and what it takes to get there. The full list is below, with commercial work at the end.

From a lot check to a signed-off unit
Read the lot
We look at the parcel, the setbacks, the existing structures and where the sewer, water and power lines run, then tell you which ADU types fit.
Pick the type and draw it
Detached, attached, garage conversion or JADU, compared on cost drivers, privacy and rent potential. The chosen one goes to drawings.
Plan check and permits
We submit the plans, answer the plan checker's corrections and keep the file moving until the permit is issued.
Build and final
Foundation or conversion work, framing, utility connections, finishes, then every inspection through the final sign-off.
Lots across two counties
Our base is Woodland Hills, and our service area runs to 103 cities between the two counties, Los Angeles and Ventura. Each city applies the state ADU rules through its own plan check.
