ADU Construction in Canoga Park

A Canoga Park ADU visit opens at the sewer cleanout, then moves to power and gas, since those lines decide where each type of unit can stand on the lot.

The sewer cleanout is the first thing we look for on a Canoga Park lot. Its depth and the direction the lateral runs tell us whether drains from a rear unit can fall to the street on their own or will need a pump. That reading narrows where a new building can stand before any layout is sketched, and it shapes which kind of ADU the yard can take.

Power and gas after the drains

Next comes the electrical panel. Its rating and free breaker spaces show whether the house can carry a second kitchen, a heat pump and a water heater, or whether a larger service, a subpanel or a separate meter is needed. Each of those routes is priced on a line of its own. An all-electric layout leaves the gas meter out of the picture entirely. When a gas range is wanted, the pipe from the meter is sized for the extra demand. Every reading goes onto the site plan we draw for you.

Every unit type on one drawing

With drains, power and gas marked, detached, attached, garage conversion and JADU options can be compared on the same sheet. A detached unit placed close to the lateral keeps trench runs short. An attached unit draws its services from the wall it shares with the house. A converted garage works well when it already lies along the sewer path, and a JADU uses what the home has inside. Canoga Park drawings go to LADBS for plan check, and its inspectors sign off each stage of the build through the final.
