Remodeling the whole house
A full remodel planned as one project, which often is the right moment to set aside space for a JADU or open the plan toward a new addition.
Planning the house as one job
Remodeling room by room leads to walls opened twice and wiring run twice. A whole-house plan sorts the structural, plumbing and electrical work once, then finishes each room in order.
Room for a junior unit
If a bedroom near an exterior wall could become a JADU later, a remodel is the cheapest time to prepare it: a separate entrance, a sink line for the efficiency kitchen and a door that locks between the two spaces.
Living there during the work
Some owners stay home through a remodel and some move out. We phase the work so the loudest and dustiest stages are short and planned, and we tell you in advance which weeks the kitchen or a bathroom will be out of use.

Plan the whole house
Name the rooms you would rework and say whether a JADU is on your mind. We reply with how we would plan it.
